BULB AND WILDFLOWER PLANTING IN VERITY CRESCENT
Saturday, 26th October 2024
Jenny and Sandra from CHNW, with much help from our Canford Heath scouts, council colleagues, and residents, planted 500 mini daffodil bulbs and scattered wildflower seeds on a grassed verge in Verity Crescent. A big thank you to everyone who helped. Fingers crossed we’ll see some great results next Spring!

The bulb planting was a success, with the first colourful display for all to appreciate during Spring 2025.
Coffee morning at Canford Heath Library
Wednesday, 3rd December 2025
Everyone is welcome at our coffee mornings, and this occasion provided an opportunity to benefit from a talk given by Kerrie from Poole Police and Cat from BCP Anti-social Behaviour team. Kerrie made a summary of the talk:
PCSO Kerrie from Poole NPT and Cat from BCP Anti-social Behaviour team attended a coffee morning at Canford Heath Library this morning, hosted by Cllr Sandra Moore. This coffee morning was open to all and was well attended by residents of Canford Heath and the surrounding areas. This was a good opportunity for residents to speak about the issues that were concerning them and gaining advice from the correct agencies. We concentrated on Anti-social Behaviour (ASB), how to report, legislation around ASB and how the police and the ASB team work together to tackle ASB in the community. Some, but not all, of the below were covered today.
Section 35 Dispersal Orders
If a group or individual is causing serious nuisance or intimidation to others, we can direct them to leave a specific area for up to 48 hours under Section 35 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. If they refuse to leave, they can be arrested. This immediately stops the group or individual from continuing to commit ASB in that area.
Community Consequence Scheme – There are 4 stages.
1)The first time a child comes to Police notice, they will be visited by a member of the ASB team for an early intervention visit to address their behaviour.
If there are no further incidents in the next 6 months, the record is deleted. However, if a second incident occurs within that 6-month period, then you move to step 3.
2) a letter sent home highlighting our concerns about their behaviour.
3) A personal visit to your home will be made by a member of the local Policing team to outline our concerns, offer support and guidance in preventing further behaviour.
4) Will be a letter to you from the Neighbourhood policing Sergeant outlining the fact that this is the 4rd incident and the behaviour has not changed. At this stage, other partners such as social services, education, housing landlords and Poole Council Safer Communities team will be notified of our concerns, and you will be invited to an Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABC’s) clinic.
Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices (CPWs/CPNs) – CPWs and CPNs are the next step on from Section 35 Dispersal Orders. ASB offenders can be handed a CPW by BCP ASB team if they persistently cause ASB. Within the CPW, they must follow specific requirements to stop ASB from being committed. If a CPW has not worked, we can hand someone a CPN which outlines what behaviour must stop and specific conditions that the offender must follow. If they do not follow these conditions or improve their behaviour, they can receive a fine for breaching their CPN.
Property closure orders – We can apply to the magistrates’ court for partial or full closure orders on properties linked to ASB. The closure orders temporarily close properties linked to persistent ASB or crime from everyone except named individuals such as the occupant, housing services, and emergency services. This prevents intimidation and distress from individuals who visit a specific property on a regular basis to commit ASB.
Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) – We can apply to the magistrates’ court for CBOs to combat ASB and retail crime. Before being heard by the court, CBO applications go through a dedicated panel made up of partner agencies, including local council housing and ASB teams, the Youth Justice Service and the Integrated Offender Management team. This restricts the individual from entering certain areas or carrying out certain activities linked to ASB. If they are found to breach their CBO conditions, they can be imprisoned.
Civil Injunctions – We can apply for civil injunctions, which are non-criminal orders, in cases of high-harm or persistent ASB.
If you would like to report any ASB in your community, please call 101 or via the report it page on the Dorset Police website. https://orlo.uk/BmuRH
I would like to thank Cllr Sandra Moore for inviting us along today, and thank you to all those who took the time to attend the coffee morning.

The coffee morning also provided additional opportunities, where we enjoyed selling our pre-loved books to raise funds for the Canford Heath Library, and signed up more new members to Canford Heath Neighbourhood Watch.
